Micro-Needling AKA Vampire Facials

Updated: Jan 28, 2023

Hello everyone, Okay so I was thinking that I need to write another blog soon, time just creeps up on me, I mean heck, I am one of those people that always needs more time in a day just to feel accomplished in my daily routine. As if that would actually help?! I’d probably just ask for even more time. Anyway that’s life and here we are again.

Recently I hear that people are whispering about Micro-Needling and Vampire Facials. Some of you might not know what Micro-Needling is - just “that it’s an amazing procedure for younger looking skin”, or “Kim Kardashian gets them so it must be an expensive and totally vulgar thing to do”. Some of you may have already undergone this amazing (in my humble opinion) non-invasive procedure already and love it.

So let’s open up and chat about this Non-Surgical procedure Micro-Needling aka Vampire Facial.

So what is this treatment? Why is this good for your skin? Is Micro-Needling the same as a Vampire Facial? How many treatments do I need? How much does it cost? Where do I go? And finally is there down time?

WHAT IS MICRO-NEEDLING?

Micro-Needling Treatment is a Non–Surgical Cosmetic Procedure which involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with teeny weeny, sterile needles, in the form of a cartridge. This feels like sandpaper on your skin. It is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Vampire Facials.

Micro-Needling uses a small device that resembles a pen. This is used on patients with skin issues and the aim is to tighten, rejuvenate, stimulating collagen production, more youthful and glowing skin. The Micro-Needling device can also be used on skin to deliver serums; Vitamins and Plasma Rich Palates (PRP) deeper into the skin for better absorption and to aid healing of the skin. Micro-Needling increases your collagen production, improves texture, reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Why is this good for our skin?

Micro- Needling is a popular non- invasive procedure to treat skin conditions such as Acne scars, Skin Elasticity, Wrinkles, Sun Damage, Pigmentation, Skin Whitening, Simulate Hair Growth and Skin Regeneration. Overall this treatment is to generate new collagen and for smoother, firmer, more toned and younger looking skin. This is how it works; the procedure creates tiny injuries to the top layer of skin, which triggers the body to heal itself, creating new collagen and elastin. The new skin will be stronger, smoother, and firmer with improved texture.

Liquid Gold (PRP)

Is this the same as Vampire facials?

The Vampire Facial is really a nickname for micro-needling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The Vampire Facial is a combination of Micro needling with PRP administration. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), a small amount of blood is taken from the patient’s arm, (just like a blood test), placed in a centrifuge which spins the vile of blood at a high speed in order to separate the blood cells from the platelet plasma. The yellow/gold liquid is PRP - also known as Liquid Gold. This Liquid Gold contains special “factors” and proteins which are fantastic for the healing process. Other forms of high potency serums and vitamins also can be infused into your skin during the Micro- Needling procedure.

How many treatments do I need?

Micro Needling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended.

How much is my glowing & youthful skin worth?

How much does it cost?

It's considerably less expensive than other rejuvenating procedures such as resurfacing lasers (longer recovery and down time), and has been found to be effective at promoting collagen production. Okay let me break this down into two options for you:

Vampire Facials (as mentioned above it’s with PRP) cost from $550 to $1100 just for one session (2 viles)

Micro Needling with Serums or Vitamins infusion cost from $150 to $700 per treatment.

Don’t take short cuts with cost. Ensuring you have a qualified practitioner who is trained to use this device with a high standard of care is the key to achieving a great quality treatment. Why take risks especially when it comes to your Face?

And where do I go?

Just like with any procedure, do your research to find a qualified practitioner, and ask questions. Some places don’t do a mask or serum, or even numb the patient. You should ask if they use serums and what serum would likely be used during the Micro-Needling procedure. These all help to get the best result.

Hydrating Mask

What is the downtime?

Immediately after this procedure you will notice some redness in the face for a few hours. This will subside slowly over the next few hours. Your skin will be highly sensitive, so we recommend waiting for 24 hours before any make up is applied. Using recommended hydration creams or serums for the next few days is crucial to your skin’s healing process. It is recommended to avoid contact with the sun for 3 days after this procedure, and to apply sunscreen when outdoors. We also recommend refraining from exercise or strenuous activity for the first 12 hours of this treatment to prevent further redness and/or bruising.

Peeling is minimal and usually starts 3 to 5 day post treatment – it’s similar to mild sunburn. More like a flaking than peeling.

Looking great is about feeling great, Let's make that happen.

What do I think of this treatment?

Yes, I have tried Micro-Needling. I always try these treatments before recommending the procedure to anyone. I love this treatment. I have noticed the changes on my skin plus I had people commenting too which will make anyone feel great - right!!

Finally in my humble opinion I truly believe Micro-Needling with Hyaluronic Acid is an amazing treatment. It is fantastic for your skin and it’s for everyone who wants to look more youthful, rejuvenated, improved skin and even tones, with reduced acne scaring, refreshed and glowing skin. Using a Cellular Renewal Peptide Serum after your Micro-Needling treatment is a must. This is an ultimate serum especially designed to assist with skin renewal with regenerative ingredients that are essential after Micro-Needling. Enriched with Peptides, growth factor, Apple Stem Cells and Green Tea. And no you don’t have to be famous or have loads of money like Kim Kardashian to be able to afford this treatment. Think of this as ‘Nutrition for your Skin’. Love and respect your skin.

Smile at functions with confidence

Furthermore summer, end of year celebrations and the festive season is very near, so get this treatment before all the chaos starts. Your make up will sit so ever nicely and you will have amazing, beautiful glowing skin to show off at all the Christmas parties.
