Botulinum toxin type A is an injection containing abobotulinum toxin A. Abobotulinum toxin A is made from the bacteria that cause botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity.
Botulinum toxin injections must be repeated three to four times per year for best results. The goal is to weaken the targeted muscles without allowing them to regain bulk or strength. Most patients find that results last an average of three to four months.
It can last anywhere between 3-5 months, depending on the individual. For first time users it usually lasts up to 3 months. For those with incredibly fast metabolisms, such as athletes, it may wear off quicker. The opposite happens for those with slower metabolisms, or not as strong muscle movement, it may last longer. It is proven that the more regularly you have treatment the longer the result may last.
Botulinum toxin type A is injected into a muscle. A trained registered health practitioner will give you this injection. Botulinum toxin injections should be spaced at least 3 - 4 months apart. Your injection may be given into more than one area at a time, depending on the condition being treated.
The effects of a Botulinum toxin injection are temporary. Your symptoms may return completely within 3 months after an injection. If you switch healthcare providers, be sure to tell your new provider how long it has been since your last botulinum toxin injection.
Using Botulinum toxin more often than prescribed will not make it more effective and may result in serious side effects.

INTRODUCTION
Like other organs of the body, the physiological functions and structures within the skin continuously decline with advancing age. One of the first visible manifestations of aging skin is the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. This phenomenon has many causes but the biology is primarily a breakdown in collagen. Collagen is the structural protein in skin that provides structure—like scaffolding—and tautness. As individuals age, environmental and mechanical stresses break down collagen at an increased rate and the fibroblasts (specialized skin cells in the dermis that produce skin proteins like collagen) cannot keep up. These cells also naturally slow with age, which decreases the amount of collagen that is produced. The combination of these two factors may cause the skin in many people to essentially cave in—leading to the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Peptides are small molecules composed of amino acids that have targeted functions and are the way the cells in our body communicate with each other. A pro-collagen peptide has been identified with the sequence Lysine-Threonine-Threonine-Serine that is easily absorbed into the epidermis layers of the skin. This peptide binds to the receptor site on the fibroblast membrane, signaling the fibroblast to begin the synthesis of collagen to help counteract the physiological slowing of collagen production and increased degradation in the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin. Not only do adequate amounts of collagen give skin a more youthful appearance, but adequate amounts of collagen also contribute to essential skin moisturization. Collagen is surrounded by a gel-like material called the “ground substance” which is composed of moisture binding glycoaminoglycans (GAGs). These GAGs play a critical role in the hydration and moisture level within the skin and enable collagen fibers to retain water and provide moisture to the epidermis. Without GAGs, collagen would resemble an empty net instead of scaffolding. (Increased moisturization can offer additional plumpness and fullness.) In properly formulated cosmetic products, the delivery of key cosmetic ingredients can be augmented by the use of galvanic current. The use of this safe and gentle current can increase the performance of skin care products. It is also thought to increase the speed of benefits allowing consumers to see visual improvements in their skin within a shorter time when compared to using skin care products alone.

Study Objective
To evaluate the potential benefits of using Tru Face Line Corrector with the Galvanic Spa II instrument.
Clinically Study Procedures has proven the benefits of Galvanic Spa Treatment by 92.5%. Dermatological grading showed greater benefits on the appearance of fine lines, crow’s feet, and firmness.
STUDY PROCEDURE
In a controlled clinical usage study conducted by an independent clinical research organization, the benefits of using Tru Face Line Corrector with the Galvanic Spa II instrument were investigated over an eight-week period. A total of 40 female subjects, ages 35+, representing all Fitzpatrick skin types, participated in the study. Subjects were evaluated at baseline and weeks 2, 4, and 8. Dermatological evaluations and subject self-assessment questionnaires included evaluation parameters for fine lines/ wrinkles around the eye area.
Subjects applied Tru Face Line Corrector to the entire face twice daily. Each subject was instructed to use the Galvanic Spa instrument in the eye area on only one (randomized) side of their face for five minutes in the evening. Visual grading was completed for each subject at baseline and weeks 2, 4, and 8 by a board certified dermatologist. Each subject also completed a self-assessment questionnaire.
Study Results
92.5% of participants saw an improvement in their skin radiance and moisturization from using Tru Face Line Corrector in combination with the Galvanic Spa II instrument for eight weeks rather than just using Tru Face Line Corrector on its own.
